Brown Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is a family-owned, multi-disciplined contractor
that has been in business since 1920.  Founded by J. M. Brown, Sr., the
company continues to operate with the third and fourth generations of the
founder's family as the current management.   

Brown Mechanical currently completes in $8-$15 Million in Annual Sales.  The
company is committed to providing a safe working environment for its employees
and has a current EMR Rating of 0.87.  

BMC has a strong commitment from Workers First & J. Smith Lanier & Co. to
provide insurance and performance and payment bonds when required.












Brown Mechanical currently serves the construction industry in the healthcare,
institutional, commercial, industrial and government sectors.  Not only does Brown
assist General Contractors in hard bid and negotiated work, but BMC also
provides Design/Build services.  

Brown Mechanical has continuing success completing a diverse range of projects.  
In healthcare the company’s projects include plumbing, medical gas, fuel oil and
HVAC systems at facilities such as Ft. Benning Martin Army Hospital, Children’s
Hospital of Alabama; The Kirklin Clinic; UAB Hospitals; Coosa Valley Medical
Center; Russell Hospital; Brookwood Hospital; Gadsden Regional Medical Center;
St. Vincents East Hospital; etc.  

Brown Mechanical has also completed many complex administration/operation
center projects for clients such as Integrated Medical Systems, Regions Bank,
Compass Bank, Alfa, BellSouth, Aflac, and Southern Progress.  Brown’s General
Contractor clients come to us when they want to build new facilities of their own.  
Brown has completed major design/build office buildings for Brasfield & Gorrie and
Brice Building Company (the Crescent Building), in addition to design/build office
buildings such as Southtrust Tower, Concord Center and One Federal Place.

BMC has also had the unique opportunity to design and/or install a wide range of
water features and specialty projects.  In February of 2008 Brown completed the
largest interactive water feature in Alabama at the new Florence River Heritage
Park.  Brown has also completed water features at The Summit, The Colonnade,
McWane Center, The Birmingham Museum of Art, Visionland, Homewood City Hall,
Gadsden Riverfront Park, Lauderdale County Courthouse, University of Alabama
Ferguson Plaza, RSA Tower in Mobile, Victoryland, Meadowbrook, Cooper Green
Hospital, the Otter/Beaver Exhibit at the Birmingham Zoo, etc.

Brown’s work in the defense and space industry encompasses over one hundred
projects at Redstone Arsenal & the Marshall Space Flight Center, as well as work
at Airbus, Redstone Gateway, Boeing, Anniston Army Depot, Ft. Benning, and
many other similar facilities.

Brown has enduring success completing sophisticated industrial projects for
Alabama Power, Daimler-Chrysler/Siemens VDO, Honeywell, General Motors,
Toyota, U.S. Steel, Consolidated Pipe, ACIPCO, Steward Machine, etc.  Brown
Mechanical continues to successfully complete intricate site utility work such as fire
and domestic water, sanitary and storm sewers, natural gas, chilled and hot water,
steam, high-pressure air, hydrogen and nitrogen.























Giving back to the community is also a priority for the company, who currently
sponsers a number of scholarships, regularly participates in fund raisers for The
Children’s Hospital, Children’s Harbor, Crippled Children's Foundation and Auburn
University, and has worked with Habitat for Humanity building homes for
underpriveliged families.  In addition, Brown contributed significantly to the
construction of the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham, Alabama.

with local consulting engineers, a strong group of suppliers, and experienced staff,
